Spey Royal was bottled through the 1970’s by W. & A. Gilbey.

Glen Spey distillery was built in 1878 and bought by Gilbey in 1887, from the original owner James Stuart.

Still in the hands of Gilbey the distillery was rebuilt and expanded in 1969. Today it is owned and operated by Diageo.

This jug states “Established 1857” which is the year Walter and Alfred Gilbey founded their wine import business.
