Glenfiddich was build in 1886 by William Grant, a former manager at Mortlach distillery.

The first spirit was distilled on Christmas Day 1887.

In 1963 Glenfiddich was the first distillery to start marketing their whisky as single malt.

It is still owned by the Grant family, which also owns Balvenie, Kininvie, Ailsa Bay and Girvan grain distillery.
