Originally made by Hiram Walker in Detroit from 1826.

With a growing prohibition movement in the US the distillery was moved across the border to Ontario around 1880.

Being popular in gentlemens clubs the it quickly became known as “Club Whisky” The word Canadian was added to the name and label in 1889

The distillery have been part of Beam Suntory since 2011.
