Green River Distillery was founded by J.W. McCulloch around 1885. It laid silent from 1990 until it was resurrected in 2014 as Owensboro Distilling Company.

In the US the brand was sold as a blend of bourbon and grain. The brand name is used today for a blended Scotch only available in Spain.
