Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers. Short ownership by DCL in the mid -50’s before being sold on to Grant’s.
In 1968 it was taken over by Invergordon, later to become Whyte & Mackay and produced mainly bulk filler for their blends until deemed surplus to requrements and closed down in 1995.
Re-opened in 2001 by investors and locals which bought it for £6M. In 2012 sold to Remy Cointreau for £56M.
