Pub paraphernalia that goes nicely next to a collection of water jugs.
Dishes and ashtrays are most often found in the same design as the jugs, made by the same ceramic manufacturers, so it can be assumed that they were made at the same time and distributed together.
Vintage trays are most commonly metal, often but not necessarily with design matching ashtrays and jugs, as there are more space to be covered and different production methods. More recent types are usually plastic.
Coin Dishes
These are most often found for sale as ashtrays.
Compared to the real ashtrays it is obvious to see that even if they could be used as such they are both too small and with a wrong shape to work without creating a mess.
They were intended as coin/change dishes on bar counters to make it easier for the customer
to pick up coins than from a flat surface.
